Education
Derbigny received his B.A. degree from Columbia University and his J.D. degree from the Tulane University Law School. He was admitted to the bar in 1978.[4][5]
Legal career
Derbigny is a former lawyer. He then taught as a law professor at Loyola University for 12 years prior to his judicial election in 2002. There he supervised students' first cases in the criminal court where he now presides. He has also served on the drug court.[4][5]
