David L. Bunning is an Article III Federal Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. He joined the Court in 2002 after being nominated by President George W. Bush.
Early life and education
Bunning was a Law Clerk for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Kentucky in 1991, before serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky from 1991 to 2002.

On the recommendation of Senators Jim Bunning and Mitch McConnell, Bunning was nominated to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky by President George W. Bush on September 4, 2001 to a seat vacated by William Bertelsman as Bertelsman went on senior status. Bunning was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on a Senate vote on February 14, 2002 and received commission on February 19, 2002.
