Judicial career
District of Massachusetts
President Jimmy Carter nominated Mazzone to a seat vacated by Frank Murray on January 26, 1978; he was confirmed by the Senate on February 7, 1978, and received commission on February 10. He assumed senior status on June 3, 1993. He continued his service until his death on October 25, 2004. His vacancy was filled by Nancy Gertner. [1]
