Deanell Reece Tacha is a federal judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She joined the court in 1985 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. She is currently serving on senior status.[1]
Tacha was the 2007 recipient of the Edward J. Devitt Distinguished Service to Justice Award.
Early life and education
A native Kansan, Tacha graduated from the University of Kansas with her Bachelor's Degree in 1968 and later graduated from Michigan Law with her juris doctorate degree in 1971. [1]

Judicial career
On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Bob Dole, Tacha was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on October 31, 1985 to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333 which was approved by Congress. Tacha was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 16, 1985 on a Senate vote and received her commission on December 16, 1985. Tacha served as chief judge of the court from 2001 to 2007. She assumed senior status on January 27, 2011.[1]
