Dennis A. Cornell is a judge on the Fifth District of the California Courts of Appeal. He was appointed by Governor Davis and, after his confirmation, took the oath of office on December 21, 2000. He was retained by voters on November 5, 2002.[1] His current term expires on January 5, 2015.[2]

Education

Dennis Cornell graduated from Stanford University in 1969. He then moved to The National Law Center, George Washington University, receiving his law degree in 1972.[3]

Legal career

Dennis Cornell began his law career in 1972 as a private practice attorney in Merced. He practiced law there for 20 years. During this time, from 1986 to 1992, he served as a part-time magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. In 1992, he was appointed to the Merced County Superior Court, where he served until his appointment to the Court of Appeals. [3][4].
