Dianne T. Renwick is a judge on the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department. She was designated to this position in April of 2008. She has been a State Supreme Court Justice since 2002 and her term will end on December 31, 2016.[1][2]
Biography
Judge Renwick received her bachelor's degree from Cornell University in 1982 and her Juris Doctor degree from Yeshiva University's Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1986. She is now married and has three sons.[1][3]
Legal career
Judge Renwick began her legal career in 1986 as a staff attorney for the Criminal Defense Division of the Legal Aid Society. In 1989, she began working in the Federal Defender Services Unit of this society for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She held this position until March of 1997, when she was appointed judge of the New York City Housing Court. That November, she was elected to the New York City Civil Court. In November of 2001, she was elected a New York State Supreme Court Justice, effective the following January. She sat in the Civil Term of this court until her designation to the Appellate Division in 2008 and was involved in the Individual Assignment (IAS), Mental Hygiene, Article 81, Foreclosure and Tax Certiorari Parts.
