Dominic J. Squatrito is a federal judge on senior status for the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. He joined the court in 1994 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. Prior to joining the court, he was a private practice attorney in Connecticut. Squatrito later assumed senior status on November 1, 2004.[1]

Early life and education

Squatrito was a graduate of Wesleyan with his bachelor's degree in 1961 and later graduated from Yale Law with his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1965. He was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Florence in Italy in 1962.[1]

Professional career

Squatrito was a private practice attorney licensed in Connecticut from 1966 to 1994 and also served as Counsel for the Town of Manchester Housing Authority from 1972 to 1979. He worked for the Connecticut State Legislature Judiciary Committee from 1974 to 1975 and also served on the Connecticut State Committee on Executive Nominations from 1974 to 1978. Squatrito was Chief counsel of the Connecticut State Senate from 1976 to 1980.[1]

On the unanimous recommendation of U.S. Senator Christopher Dodd and Joe Libermann, Squatrito was nominated by President Bill Clinton on July 28, 1994, to a new seat created by 104 Stat. 5089. Squatrito was confirmed by the Senate on October 6, 1994, and received commission on October 7, 1994. He assumed senior status on November 1, 2004 and was succeeded in this position by Judge Vanessa Bryant.[1]
