Donald Lemons is a justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia. Justice Lemons was appointed to the Supreme Court by Governor George F. Allen (R) in 1998.
Legal education
Justice Donald Lemons earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Virginia.[1]
Legal experience
From 1976 to 1978, Justice Lemons was Assistant Dean and Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Virginia School of Law, his alma mater. In 1978, he entered private practice. Governor Allen appointed Lemons to the Circuit Court of the City of Richmond in 1995, and was confirmed by the General Assembly. Three years later, Justice Lemons was elected to an eight year term to the Court of Appeals, and in 2000, Lemons was elected to the Supreme Court of Virginia. All elections were through the General Assembly.[2]
