Edith K. Payne is a judge on the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division, Part B. She has served in this division since August 1, 2002. She reaches the age of mandatory retirement in 2012.[1]
Biography
Judge Payne graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1964 and from Rutgers Law School in 1976. She is now widowed and has two grown sons.[2]
Legal career
Judge Payne was a partner in the law firm Stryker, Tams and Dill before her appointment to the Superior Court. As a lawyer, she specialized in insurance law, toxic tort law and product liability. She was appointed to the Superior Court by Governor Whitman in January of 1996.[1][2]
