Early life and education
A born Venezuelan turned American Citizen, Moreno graduated from the University of Notre Dame with his Bachelor's Degree in 1974 and from the University of Miami Law School with his law degree in 1978.[1]
Professional career
Moreno was a private practice attorney in the State of Florida from 1978 to 1979 and 1982 to 1986. From 1979 to 1981, Moreno served as the Assistant federal public defender for the Southern District of Florida assisting low income and indigent clients who needed legal representation. In 1986, Moreno became a Judge in the Dade County Court from 1986 to 1987 and was later appointed circuit court Judge in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida from 1987 to 1990.[1]
Judicial career
Southern District of Florida
On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Connie Mack III, Moreno was nominated to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida by President George H.W. Bush on June 5, 1990 to a seat vacated by Alcee Hastings. Moreno was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 13, 1990 on a senate vote and received commission on July 16, 1990. Moreno has been the Chief Judge of the court since 2007.
