Felix Frankfurter (1882-1965) was an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. He joined the court in 1939 after an appointment from Franklin Delano Roosevelt. At the time of appointment, Frankfurter was a law professor at Harvard University. On August 28, 1962, he assumed senior status and continued to serve in this capacity until his death on February 22, 1965. [1]

Judicial career

Supreme Court of the United States

He was nominated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on January 5, 1939 to replace Benjamin Nathan Cardozo. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 17th, and received commission on January 20th. On August 28, 1962, he assumed senior status and continued to serve in this capacity until his death on February 22, 1965. [1] He was succeeded to this post by Arthur Goldberg.
