Indiana: On September 30, Justice Theodore Boehm will step down from his seat on the Indiana Supreme Court. Today is the first day of interviews to find his replacement.

Thirty-four candidates have announced their intention to qualify for the seat. The large pool of candidates come from the Superior Courts, Circuit Courts, and a variety of law practices. [1]

The Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission, chaired by Chief Justice Randall Shepard will interview each candidate today or tomorrow. The interviews will last approximately twenty minutes. From there, semi-finalists will participate in the second round of interviews. These interviews will occur July 30. Then the Commission will recommend three candidates to forward to Governor Mitch Daniels for consideration. The Governor will choose the justice to succeed Boehm. [2]

The interviews are open to the press and public. [2]
