Finis James Garrett
Federal judicial service
Garrett was nominated to the Court of Customs Appeals by President Coolidge. He was confirmed on February 14, 1929. He served as chief judge from 1937-1955 (his title was "presiding judge" from 1937-1948, although the office was the same as that more commonly called "chief judge" today). He assumed senior status on September 15, 1955, and served in that capacity until his death on May 25, 1956.[1]
