Colorado: Five Colorado District Court judges have been recommended for retention two judicial performance commissions of Pitkin, Eagle, and Garfield counties. The commissions are two out of 22 created by the Colorado Office of Judicial Performance Evaluation, each of which is made of four attorneys and six non-attorneys from within the judicial districts, whose responsibility it is to evaluate judges in the districts who are up for retention and make a recommendation as to whether they should be retained or not, which is ultimately up to voters. The judges who received recommendations are Ninth Judicial District Judge Gail Nichols, Pitkin County Judge Erin Fernandez-Ely, Garfield County Judge Paul Metzger, and Fifth Judicial District Judges R. Thomas Moorhead and Karen A. Romeo.[1]
