Francine Axelrad

Francine I. Axelrad is currently the Presiding Judge of the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division, Part D. She has judged in the Appellate Division since September 1, 2000 and she has served as the Presiding Judge since September of 2008.[1]
Biography
Judge Axelrad was born in Lakewood, New Jersey. She graduated from Connecticut College in 1974 and from Rutgers University School of Law at Camden in 1977. She is now married and has two children.[1][2]
Legal career
Judge Axelrad began her career as an attorney with the law firm Shmerelson, Weinroth and Etish. She then worked as the Director of the Department of Law for Cherry Hill until Governor Florio appointed her to the Tax Court in 1993. During her time on this court, she also served for a few years on the Family Division of the Superior Court. In 2000, she joined the Superior Court. Her mandatory retirement year is 2022.[1][2]
