Francis Hopkinson was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Pennsylvania. He was nominated by President George Washington on September 24, 1789. He was confirmed by the Senate on September 26, 1789,[1] and received commission that same day. He served until his death on May 9, 1791. Hopkinson was succeeded in this position by William Lewis.
