Frank D. Celebrezze, Jr. is a judge on the Ohio Eighth District Court of Appeals. He was elected to this position in 2000.[1] He was re-elected to a 6-year term in November of 2006[2] and will be up for re-election again in 2012, when that term ends.[3]

Biography

Justice Celebrezze was born on February 22, 1952. From 1974 to 1977, he served overseas in the Navy. He then received his B.A. degree from Cleveland State University in 1980 and his J.D. degree from the Cleveland Marshall Law School in 1983.[1]

Legal career

During law school, Justice Celebrezze worked as a judicial extern for Alvin Krenzler of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio in 1982. In 1983 and 1984, he was a law clerk for the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Division. He joined the firm Nurenberg, Plevin, Jacobsen, Heller & McCarthy Co., L.P.A. in 1983 as an associate. In 1985, he joined Wolske & Blue Co., L.P.A. During his time as a lawyer, he specialized in medical malpractice and personal injury litigation. In 1987, he became a District Hearing Officer for the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation - Industrial Commission of Ohio. He then worked in the Cuyahoga County Treasurer's Office as a staff attorney from 1991 to 1993. After this, he became a Trial Judge on the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, where he worked until his election to the Court of Appeals in 2000.[1]
