Gay C. Gaskins (b. April 22, 1953) is a judge on the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeals. She was elected to this court in 1995[1] and her current term expires on December 31, 2020.[2]

Biography
Judge Gaskins is a 1971 graduate of West Monroe High School in West Monroe, Louisiana. She graduated from Centenary College in Shreveport in 1975 and Louisiana State University Law School with her J.D. in 1982. She and her husband, Gary Lee Gaskins, have three children. Judge Gaskins is a member of the American Bar Association and the Louisiana Bar Association, and is a Court of Appeal Liaison to the Shreveport Bar Association. She is also a member of the Second Circuit Judges Association (President 2003), the Shreveport Association of Women Attorneys (Past President), the Harry V. Booth Inn of Court, and the Broadmoor United Methodist Church.[1]
Legal career
Prior to earning her law degree, Judge Gaskins worked as a news reporter and Assignments Editor for a local television station in Shreveport from 1976-1979. Judge Gaskins was the Assistant District Attorney for the Caddo Parish District Attorney's office from 1982-1990. During part of this time, Judge Gaskins also worked in private practice from 1986-1990. She was elected in 1990 to the Shreveport City Court and in 1995 to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.[1]
