George Arceneaux, Jr. (1928-1993) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Arceneaux was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on June 12, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629; he was confirmed by the Senate on September 25, 1979, and received commission on September 26, 1979. He served the Eastern District of Louisiana until his death. [1] Arceneaux was succeeded in this position by Stanwood Duval.

Early life and education

Judge Arceneaux received his B.A. degree from Louisiana State University in 1949 and his J.D. degree from American University's Washington College of Law in 1957.[1]

Professional career

Judge Arceneaux served in the U.S. Army in 1951 and 1952. He then worked as an administrative assistant to U.S. Sen. Allen Ellender until 1960. He was a private practice lawyer until his nomination to the court in 1979.[1]
