George Marovich

George Michael Marovich Is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Marovich is serving on senior status. He was nominated by Ronald Reagan.
Early life
A native Chicago citizen, Marovich earned both his Bachelor's and Juris Doctoral Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1952 and 1954. [1]
Legal career
Marovich has enjoyed a long career in the legal profession first as a Title examiner for the Chicago Title and Trust Company from 1954-1959. For seven years, Marovich was a private practice attorney in the Chicago suburb of South Holland from 1959 to 1966. For ten years, Marovich changed gears as he was the Vice president & trust officer, South Holland Trust & Savings Bank in South Holland from 1966 to 1976. Then for twelve years from 1976 to 1988, Marovich was a circuit court judge in Cook County as a criminal circuit court judge from 1976 to 1985 then as a Chancery judge from 1985 to 1988 when he was appoined by President Reagan to the federal bench.
Federal Judicial Career
On recommendation by former Congressman Henry Hyde, Marovich was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on February 2, 1988, to a seat vacated by Susan Getzendanner. Marovich was Confirmed by the Senate on March 31, 1988, and received commission on April 1, 1988. Marovich assumed senior status on January 2, 2000.
