Gilbert Nares is an associate justice on the Fourth District, Division One of the California Courts of Appeal. He was appointed by Governor Deukmejian and, after his confirmation, took the oath of office on October 13, 1988. He was retained by voters on the November 5, 2002 election.[1] His current term expires on January 5, 2015.[2]
Education
Gilbert Nares received his bachelor's degree in economics and philosophy from the University of San Diego. He went on to the law school and received his J.D. in 1967.[3][4]
Legal career
Gilbert Nares began his legal career in 1968, working for the law firm Daubney, Banche, Patterson & Nares. In 1976, he was appointed to the San Diego County Municipal Court and two years later, he was elevated to the Superior Court. He served on this court until his appointment to the Court of Appeals.[3][4]
