E. Grady Jolly (b. 1937) is a federal appeals judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He joined the court in 1982 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan.

Early life and education

Born in Louisville, Mississippi, Jolly graduated from University of Mississippi,(Ole Miss) with his Bachelor's degree in 1959 and from University of Mississippi Law School (Ole Miss Law) with his Juris Doctor degree in 1962.[1]

Professional career

Jolly was a Trial Attorney for the National Labor Relations Board in North Carolina from 1962 to 1964. Jolly later joined the U.S. Attorney's Office as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Mississippi from 1964 to 1967. Jolly served again as a Trial Attorney from 1967 to 1969 prosecuting tax cases for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.. Jolly entered private practice in Mississippi from 1969 to 1982.[1]

Federal judicial career

Jolly was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit by President Ronald Reagan on July 1, 1982, to a seat vacated by James Coleman. Jolly was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 27, 1982 on a Senate vote and received commission on July 30, 1982.[1]
