Harry Daniel Leinenweber is an Article III Federal Judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Early Life and Education

A Chicago native, Leinenweber graduated from Notre Dame in 1959 with his Bachelor's Degree and from the University of Chicago with his Juris Doctor degree in 1962. [1]

Legal Career

Leinenweber was a private practice attorney the Chicago community of Joliet from 1962 to 1986. Notably, Leinenweber represented the Will County Forest Preserve in 1977. Leinenweber served as a Special Prosecutor for Will County from 1968-1970 and was also elected to the Illinois General Assembly in 1972, serving a consecutive term until 1982. [1]

Federal Judicial Career

Leinenweber was nominated to United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois by Ronald Reagan on November 7, 1985 to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333, which was approved by Congress. Leinenweber was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 16, 1985 on a Senate vote and received commission on December 17, 1985. Leinenweber assumed senior status on June 3, 2002. [1]
