The Hawaiian District Courts are trial courts that have jurisdiction over traffic infractions, summary possession, ejection cases, non-jury civil cases under $10,000, and small claims where the amount claimed is under $5,000. They also have jurisdiction over civil cases involving claims not exceeding $25,000, criminal offenses punishable by fine or less than one year imprisonment, cases involving violations of a county ordinance, and petitions for restraining orders.[1]
