Helen Hoens is a justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court. She was appointed to the court by Jon Corzine (a Democratic Governor) on September 21, 2006 and took office on October 26, 2006. Her current term expires on October 26, 2013.

Biography

Justice Hoens was born on July 31, 1954 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She received a B.A. degree in government from the College of William and Mary and a J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center.

Legal career

Justice Hoens began her career as a law clerk on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. She then became a private practice lawyer. She has worked at the firms Dewey, Ballantine; the Law Office of Russel H. Beatie, Jr.; Pitney, Hardin; and Lum, Hoens, Conant, Danzis & Kleinberg. She was appointed to the Superior Court in 1994 and was reappointed in 2001. She was elevated to the Appellate Division in August of 2002 and then joined the Supreme Court in 2006.
