Herbert Stephenson Boreman (1897-1982) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.[1]

Judicial career

Fourth Circuit

Boreman was nominated to the Fourth Circuit by President Dwight Eisenhower on January 20, 1959, to a seat vacated by John Johnston Parker; he was confirmed by the Senate on June 16, 1959, and received his commission on June 17th. He assumed senior status on June 15, 1971, and served the Fourth Circuit in that capacity until his death on March 26, 1982.[1]

Northern District of West Virginia

Boreman was nominated to the Northern District of West Virginia by President Dwight Eisenhower on June 22, 1954, to a seat vacated by William Eli Baker; he was confirmed by the Senate on July 21, 1954, and received his commission on July 22nd. He served the this court until his June 22, 1959, elevation to the Fourth Circuit.[1] Boreman was succeeded in this position by Charles Paul.
