The Illinois Third District Appellate Court encompasses the northern counties in the state, including some of the more populated areas in the state.
Third District Territory
The Third District Appellate Court includes 21 counties across the central-north part of the state: Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, Warren, Henry, Mercer, Rock Island, Whiteside, Marshall, Peoria, Putnam, Stark, Tazewell, Bureau, Grundy, LaSalle, Iroquois, Kankakee, and Will County.
Judges
Like every appellate district, the judges elected to the Third District serve 10 year terms "for a term commencing on the first Monday in December following his [or her] election."[1]
