James Allen "Jim" Main is an associate justice on the Alabama Supreme Court. He was appointed to the court by Governor Bob Riley on January 14, 2011 and his current term expires in 2018.[1] [2]
Education
Judge Main earned his undergraduate degree in pharmacy from Auburn University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama.[3][4]
Career
After his admission the the Alabama State Bar, Main went in to private law practice in Anniston in 1972. He then moved his practice to Montgomery in 1989. He then served as the City Attorney for Oxford, Alabama. Following that position he served as the Lineville City Judge. Main has also served as the Senior Counsel to Governor Bob Riley and Chief of Staff and Legal Adviser to Governor Fob James. He then served as the Director of Finance for the State of Alabama. He was then elected to the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeal where he served until January of 2011. On January 14, 2011 Governor Bob Riley appointed Main to the Alabama Supreme Court, a position which he currently serves.[3][4]

Elections
2012 election
In November 2011, Main announced his intention to seek a full term on the bench in the 2012 judicial elections. [5] He ran unopposed and was re-elected on Nov. 6, 2012.[6][7]
