E. James Burke (1949) was appointed a justice of the Wyoming Supreme Court in January 2005 by Governor Dave Freudenthal (D). His current eight-year term expires in 2012.
Legal background
Justice Burke received his B.S. degree from St. Joseph’s College in Philadelphia, PA in 1971 and earned his J.D. from the University of Wyoming in 1977.
Legal career
After graduation, Justice Burke entered the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne until 1974. After law school, Justice Burke was engaged in private practice in Cheyenne until his appointment to the bench as a district judge in 2001.[1]
