James Burns

James Milton Burns (1924-2001) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.
Burns was nominated by President Richard Nixon on March 22, 1972, to a seat vacated by Gus Solomon; he was confirmed by the Senate on May 25, 1972, and received commission on June 2, 1972. From 1979-1984, he served as the chief judge. He assumed senior status on November 24, 1989. He served the District of Oregon until his death on December 21, 2001.
