James Z. Davis is a judge on the Utah Court of Appeals. He was appointed to this position by Governor Leavitt in November of 1993.[1] He will be up for re-election in 2010.

Biography

Judge Davis received his law degree from the University of Utah College of Law in 1968. He then served in the Army as military intelligence until 1970.[1]

Legal career

Judge Davis began his legal career in 1971 as a private practice lawyer. He worked in this capacity until 1977. From 1973 to 1982, he was a Deputy Weber County Attorney and a Weber County Police Legal Advisor. In 1977, he became a partner in the law firm Thatcher, Glasmann & Davis. In 1982, he moved to the firm Ray, Quinney & Nebeker, where he worked as a shareholder and director until his appointment to the Court of Appeals in 1993.[1]
