James Robert Redford is a Michigan circuit court judge. Judge Redford was elected November 2002 and took the bench on January 1, 2003.
Education
Judge Redford received his undergraduate degree from John Carroll University and J.D. from the University of Detroit.
Legal career
Before taking the bench, Judge Redford was a partner in the law firm of Plunkett & Cooney. Prior to his affiliation with Plunkett & Cooney, Judge Redford served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Michigan for nearly 8 years and before that was on active duty in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Navy for 5 years. Judge Redford is a Captain in the U.S. Naval Reserves. Judge Redford is assigned to the Civil-Criminal Division of the Circuit Court.[1]
