James Sweeney

James J. Sweeney is a judge on the Ohio Eighth District Court of Appeals. He was elected to this position in 2001.[1] He was re-elected in November of 2006.[2]
Biography
Justice Sweeney served in the Army from 1960 to 1962. He then received his undergraduate degree from Cleveland State University in 1970 and his J.D. degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1973.[1]
Legal career
Justice Sweeney began his legal career in 1974 as a Cuyahoga County Assistant Prosecutor. In 1979, he became an Assistant Attorney General. He also worked as a lawyer until 1981, when he was elected to the Common Pleas Court. He judged in the General Division of this court until 1997, including a few years as the Administrative and Presiding Judge. He was then elected to the Court of Appeals in 2001.[1]
