Judge Markey was elected to the Michigan Third District Court of Appeals in 1994. Judge Markey's current term expires on January 1, 2015.[1][2]
Biography
Markey received her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and her law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.[1]
Legal career
Before her election to the Court of Appeals, she served as a district court judge, she was a pre-hearing attorney and law clerk for the Michigan Court of Appeals, and she worked as an attorney in private practice.[1]
Awards and associations
A life fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, Judge Markey is a member of the Personnel and Quality Review Committees of the Court of Appeals and a member of the board of directors of Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She has served on faculties for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, the Hillman Federal Trial Skills Workshop, and the Michigan Judicial Institute, as well as ICLE. Judge Markey was also a mediator for the Kent County Circuit Court, 1986-1991, and a hearing panelist for the Attorney Discipline Board, 1989 to 1996.[3]
