2011 election
Taylor was re-elected on November 8 with 11.1% of the vote. She was competing against eleven candidates for six open seats. [5][3]

Education
Taylor received her B.A. degree from the College of William and Mary in 1975 and her J.D. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law in 1978.[1]
Legal career
Taylor began her career in 1978 as an associate attorney for the N.Y.C. Transit Authority. From 1986 to 1987, she worked as Assistant General Counsel for District Council 37. She then practiced law under the title of the Law Office of Janice A. Taylor from 1987 to 1994. She also worked as an Appellate Division Referee for the Supreme Court from 1988 to 1994 and as legal counsel to the Concerned Citizens of Southeast Queens from 1990 to 1992. She also worked briefly in 1994 as an adjunct associate professor of the St. John University College of Business.
Taylor was elected to the New York City Civil Court of Queens County in 1995 and was elected to the Queens County Supreme Court in 1998.[1]
