Jay Cohen

Jay P. Cohen is a judge on the Florida Fifth District Court of Appeal. He was appointed to this position by Governor Crist in January of 2008.[1]

Biography

Cohen was born in Chicago, Illinois but grew up in Orlando, Florida. He graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in 1974 and a Juris Doctor (law) degree in 1978. He is currently married and has two children.[1]

Legal career

Cohen began his legal career in Sarasota County and then prosecuted in Orlando for two years. He entered private practice in 1982. He became a judge in 1990, when he was appointed to the County Court bench. He served in the traffic, criminal, and civil divisions. He was appointed to the Circuit Court in 1993, where he served in the domestic relations, juvenile, criminal, and civil divisions.[1]
