Jim Gunter has served as a justice on the Arkansas Supreme Court since 2004.[1] His current term ends in 2012.[2]

Legal education and experience

Justice Gunter received his B.B.A. from Texas A&M University and his J.D. from the University of Houston.[1]

Legal career

Justice Gunter began his legal career in 1973 as a private practice lawyer for the offices of John L. Wilson. He worked with Wilson and Gunter beginning in 1974 and Wilson, Gunter and Walker in 1975. From 1977-1982 he was a Prosecuting Attorney with Arkansas's 8th Judicial District. In the years dating 1983-1991, he served as District Chancellor. Beginning in 1991, Judge Gunter served as a circuit and chancery judge until 1999, when he became a circuit judge with the 8th Judicial District North (1999-2004).[1]
