Jim Hannah has been the Chief Justice for the State of Arkansas Supreme Court since 2004. He first joined this court in 2001 and his current term on the court expires in 2016.[1][2]

Biography

Hannah received a B.S.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Arkansas, as well as his J.D. degree.[1]

Legal career

Justice Hannah was a former City Attorney for the cities of Augusta, Bradford, Des Arc, Garner, Kensett, and Rosebud. From 1969-1978 he served in the same capacity, but for Searcy, Arkansas. He has also worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Woodruff County. He worked as a private practice lawyer in the law firm Lightle, Tedder, Hannah & Beeb.

Hannah also held various judicial positions before he joined the Supreme Court in 2001. He worked as a City Judge in Kensett and Rosebud. From 1976 to 1978, he was a White County Juvenile Judge and, from 1979 to 1999, a Chancery and Probate Judge for the 17th Judicial District.[1]

When Hannah served as district judge prior to joining the Arkansas Supreme Court, 104 of his decisions were appealed, with 78 being affirmed and 26 being overturned.[3]
