Joan F. Kessler is a judge for the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. She serves in the 1st division, which represents Milwaukee County. She has served in this position since 2004.[1] Kessler was re-elected to another term in the April 6, 2010 general election. [2]

Education

Judge Kessler received her B.A. degree from the University of Kansas in 1966 and her J.D. degree from Marquette University Law School in 1968.[1]

Legal career

Judge Kessler began her legal career in 1968 as a clerk for U.S. District Court Judge John Reynolds of the Eastern District of Wisconsin. A year later, she began working as a private practice attorney. In 1978, she became a U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. She returned to the private practice of law in 1981 and worked in this capacity until she joined the Court of Appeals in 2004.[1]
