Joe Fish is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. He joined the court in 1983 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. Fish is a judge serving on senior status [1]

Early life and education

A Los Angeles native, Fish graduated from Yale with his Bachelor's Degree in 1965 and with his Law Degree in 1968[1].

Legal career

Fish was a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Texas from 1968 to 1980. Fish was a attorney at the Dallas based Law firm McKenzie & Baer from 1968 to 1980 before becoming a District Court Judge of the Texas 95th District Court of Dallas County from 1980 to 1981 before being appointed by Texas Governor Bill Clements as Appeals Judge for the Texas Court of Appeals serving in the 5th District from 1981 to 1983[2].

Federal judicial career

On the recommendation of Texas U.S. Senator Phil Gramm, Fish was appointed by President Ronald Reagan on February 23, 1983 and received commission on February 24, 1983. Fish served as the chief judge of the Northern District of Texas from 2002 to 2007 before later assuming senior status on November 12, 2007.[1]
