John Bancroft Davis

John Chandler Bancroft Davis (1822-1907) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Claims.

Davis served two stints on the Court of Claims. He was first nominated by President Rutherford B. Hayes, and received his commission on December 14, 1877. He resigned on December 19, 1881 to serve a brief stint as the Assistant Secretary of State, but was re-nominated to the Court of Claims by President Chester Arthur and re-commissioned on December 20, 1882. He resigned again on November 5, 1883 to take a job as the Reporter of Decisions for the Supreme Court.
