John Boyd Avis

John Boyd Avis (1875-1944) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
He was nominated by President Herbert Hoover on September 9, 1929 to fill the seat vacated by Joseph Lamb Bodine. He was confirmed by the Senate on October 2nd, and received commission that same day. He served until his death on January 21, 1944.
