John Dewane

Judge Dewane was appointed as Circuit Judge by Governor Granholm in February 2008.[1] Judge Dewane currently serves as Judge of Michigan's Second Circuit Court.
Legal education and experience
Judge Dewane received both his undergraduate degree (1966) and his law degree (1969) from the University of Michigan. He was in private practice in Berrien County for 38 years prior to taking the bench.[2]
Awards and associations
Judge Dewane has been active in numerous professional organizations, including, Berrien County Bar Association (President, 1989-1990), State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly, Attorney Discipline Board Hearing Panel. Civic and community organizations that Judge Dewane has been involved in include, Cornerstone Alliance Board of Directors, Berrien-Cass-Van Buren Workforce Development Board of Directors, Berrien County Mental Health Board of Directors (Chairperson), Link Crisis Intervention Center Board of Directors (Chairperson), YMCA of St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Board of Directors, Western Amateur Golf Committee (Chairperson), Big Michigan Doings (President).[3]
