John A. Dooley is an Associate Justice of the Vermont Supreme Court, a position to which he was appointed on June 12, 1987 by Democratic Governor Madeleine M. Kunin.[1] He will be up for a retention election by the General Assembly at the end of his current term in 2012.[2]
Legal education
A native of Nashua, NH, Justice Dooley graduated from Union College in 1965. Justice Dooley earned his L.L.B from Boston College in 1968. [1]
Legal experience
For two years (1985-1987) he served as Secretary for Administration for the State of Vermont.[1]
Awards and associations
Justice Dooley is founder and President of the Vermont/Karelia Rule of Law Project. Justice Dooley has been President of the Russian American Rule of Law Consortium since 1998and has been President of the Vermont Bar Association.[3]
