Early life and education
Born in Bronx, New York, Gleeson graduated from Georgetown University with his Bachelor's degree in 1975 and later from University of Virginia School of Law with his Juris Doctor, J.D. degree in 1980. [1]
Professional career
Gleeson began his legal career as a law clerk for Federal Appeals Judge Boyce Martin in the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati from 1980 to 1981 before entering private practice in New York City from 1981 to 1985. Gleeson served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York from 1985 to 1994.[1]
Judicial career
Eastern District of New York
On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Gleeson was nominated to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York by President Bill Clinton on July 22, 1994, to the seat vacated by Jack Weinstein. The U.S. Senate confirmed him on September 28, 1994, on a majority vote and he was commissioned the next day. [2]
