John Simpson Hastings (1898-1977) was a federal judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.[1]

Hastings was nominated by President Dwight Eisenhower on March 14, 1957, to a seat vacated by James Earl Major; he was confirmed by the Senate on August 22, 1957, and received his commission on August 26th. He served as chief judge from 1959-1968. He assumed senior status on February 1, 1969, and served in that capacity until his death on February 7, 1977.[1]
