John McBryde is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. He joined the court in 1990 after being nominated by President George H.W. Bush. [1]
Early life and education
Born in Jackson, Mississippi, McBryde graduated from Texas Christian University with his Bachelor's degree in 1953 and later graduated from Texas Law with his Bachelor of Laws, LL.B, degree in 1956. [1]
Professional career
McBryde was a private practice attorney in the State of Texas from 1956 to 1990.[1] McBryde is an active member of the State Bar of Texas, the American College of Trial Lawyers, the Texas Bar Foundation, and the American Bar Foundation.[2]
Judicial career
Northern District of Texas
On the recommendation of Texas U.S. Senator Phil Gramm, McBryde was nominated to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas by President Ronald Reagan on May 11, 1990 to a seat vacated by Eldon Mahon. McBryde was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 3, 1990 by a Senate vote and received commission on August 7, 1990.[1]
