John R. Adams is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. He joined the court in February 2003 after being nominated by President George W. Bush.
Early life and education
An Ohio native, Adams graduated from Bowling Green State University with his Bachelor's degree in 1978 and from the University of Akron School of Law in 1983. [1]
Professional career
Adams began his legal career in 1983 as a law clerk for the Ohio Court of Common Pleas Judge W. F. Spicer. In 1984, Adams entered private practice in the state of Ohio until 1986 where he served until 1989 as a Assistant Prosecutor for the Summit County Prosecutor's Office. In 1999, Adams was elected a Common Pleas judge in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas. He served in this capacity until his appointment to the Federal bench in 2003. [1]
Judicial career
Northern District of Ohio
On the unanimous recommendation of Senators Mike DeWine and George Voinovich, Adams was nominated by President George Bush on January 7, 2003, to a seat vacated by George White. Adams was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on February 10, 2003 U.S. Senate on a Senate Vote and received commission on February 12, 2003. [1]
