John S. Martin was a judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, who was nominated by former president George H.W. Bush on January 24, 1990. He filled the seat vacated by Edward Weinfeld. Martin was confirmed by the Senate on April 5, 1990, and received commission on April 6, 1990. Martin assumed senior status on May 31, 2003, and entered retirement on September 30, 2003.[1]
