John Sprizzo (1934-2008) was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on July 29, 1981, to a seat vacated by Charles Tenney. Sprizzo was confirmed by the Senate on September 25, 1981, and received commission on September 28, 1981. Sprizzo was succeeded in this position by Gerard Lynch. He assumed senior status on January 1, 2000, and served until his death on December 16, 2008.[1]
